Before the global outbreak of Covid-19, a number of governments and multilateral initiatives were taking steps to promote a circular economic model built on the need to better value resources that are already in use and to regenerate natural systems. In the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis, circular economy approaches have the potential to play a crucial role in stimulus packages by promoting a green, low-carbon and circular post-coronavirus economic recovery. The web meeting will discuss the state of play of global initiatives, the potential contribution the G20 countries can make in support of the circular economy and more generally of sustainable production and consumption modes. The event will take place in the framework of the project “The role of the G20 in promoting global governance: challenges and opportunities of the Italian Presidency in 2021”, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
